Some keen-eyed WordPress watchers have noticed that we’ve past the original Beta 1 release date of October 19, without a new date being announced. I apologise for the lack of communication here, we were so focussed on fixing the last few blockers for Beta 1, that we (I) completely lost track of time. The good news is, we have a new release date! Beta 1 will be released October 24, 2018, which is… today!
The WordPress 5.0 nightly build has been updated to include the major changes you’ll see in Beta 1, including:
The Gutenberg block editor as the default editor.
The new default theme, Twenty Nineteen.
All previous default themes updated to include block editor styles.
You can get a head start on testing by installing the nightly build, or wait until later today when WordPress 5.0 Beta 1 will be released!
